Quality Assurance Network for Accreditation Agencies

European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD)

On April 20th, 2009, President Itoh visited the headquarters of EFMD in Brussels, Belgium. He met by Mr. Eric Cornuel, Director General and a CEO of EFMD as well as Mr.Jim Herbolich, the Deputy Director General to discuss the International Partnership between EFMD and ABEST 21. As a result, both of them have agreed to sign a Reciprocal Membership Agreement as a way to work together towards ensuring the international standard of quality for management education.

National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education of Indonesia (BAN-PT)

On August 1, ABEST21 negotiated with the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tiggi (BAN-PT)) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on concluding a Reciprocal Membership Agreement. As a result the two parties reached an agreement, which was signed on August 1. BAN-PT is the second member, following EMFD, to conclude Reciprocal Agreement with ABEST21. Since the number of Indonesian members is expected to grow in the future, ABEST21 intends to strengthen the cooperation with BAN-PT and thus contribute to establishing a system to guarantee the quality of education which meets the needs of the globalization age.

Assosias Fakultas Ekonomi & Bisnis Indonesia (AFEBI)

On 10th June 2013, ABEST21 negotiated with the AFEBI (ASOSIASI FAKULTAS EKONOMI DAN BISNIS INDONESIA) on concluding a Reciprocal Membership Agreement. AFEBI (ASOSIASI FAKULTAS EKONOMI DAN BISNIS INDONESIA) and exchanged the MOU between ABEST21 and AFEBI. We realized the well-recognized status of ABEST21 among Indonesian business schools and that the schools are highly interested in globalization of management education in Indonesia as well as guaranteeing the quality of education. We believe that ABEST21 can play an important role in achieving this goal.

Specialized Accreditation Institutions Network Organization

On Monday, December 16, 2013, at ABEST21 office, Specialized Accreditation Institutions Network Organization (hereinafter, “Network Organization”) was established, consisting of three accreditation institutions: Japan Law Foundation, Japanese Institute of International Accounting Education, and ABEST21. The Network Organization will discuss specific issues that specialized accreditation institutions face, and submit the results of discussions to the related government ministries and agencies. The Network Organization will hold regular meetings to discuss the issues related to quality assurance by the professional graduate schools in Japan. The initial board members are as follows:
Director and President: Fumio Itoh (ABEST21 President)
Director and Vice President: Akiko Imaizumi (Chief of Accreditation Office, Japan Law Foundation)
Director and Vice President: Takashi Hashimoto (Head of Japanese Institute of International Accounting Education)
The Network Organization Office will be set up at ABEST21.

ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN)

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) concerning management education quality assurance in Asia was signed by AQAN President Dr. Syed Ahmad Hussein and ABEST21 President Dr. Fumio Itoh on March 5, 2014 at Crowne Plaza Hanoi, Vietnam. Since many ASEAN schools have joined ABEST21 as school members, from Malaysia and Indonesia in particular, and the number of business schools applying for accreditation has increased, we will cooperate with AQAN in nurturing management professionals by active exchange of information on management education quality assurance.
